When Steph and Netta met, we were new moms. A year later, we were friends facing transitions back to work. Eating together at a Greek restaurant one night, we hit on the idea of a movie club as a way to keep in touch.
 
Each week, we would alternate picking a movie and then video call to talk about it. We watched old favorites and new releases; comedies and dramas and action; blockbusters, independent films, and ci-ne-ma; and even a few movies over 3 hours. We talked about how the elements of the movie worked (or didn't) and unpacked our personal reactions. We even found some perfect movies (3 so far) and near-perfect movies (4 so far).
 
Movie club became a touch point of our lives. It obligated us to take some me-time and expanded our cinematic worlds.

After almost 50 movies, we decided to turn our club into a podcast. We spent the next 6 months brainstorming names and even longer agonizing over "getting it right" (without knowing what that meant), before saying fuck it, let's just post this already.
 
Popcorn Moms was born.
